|MONDAY MICHIRU NEWSLETTER -- Beginning of 2008!|
|6/16/2019 4:38:14 AM - Happy new year! I trust everyone had a great holiday and most importantly survived. I'm still looking at my extra bulges and nursing an over-tired liver, but complaints aside, it was a wonderful time. |
But enough is enough! 2008 is here and I am focused and in deep concentration mode for the "Flow" project. At this stage, there aren't any tours interfering with my writing and pre-production time until the end of March, and aside from a couple of outside recording projects all signs are "go"!
"Flow" Project Progress -- I have my new computer and since starting on the various songs and productions, it's been working so smoothly, and more importantly, I am brimming with song ideas. I already have two songs pretty much written and programmed, a third if I want to include "Qandi" from last year's Starbuck event, a little interlude, and still a fat folder of ideas that I haven't even sunk my teeth into yet. I've been trying to keep my project participants in the loop on the progress via blogs which I will continue, and am hoping to upload some videos, chart and lyric scribblings, mp3s and other knick knacks along the way.
It won't be until probably the middle of February that I'll have a healthy look at what the project is shaping into and start molding the recording, artwork and manufacturing time frame. I hope that I won't be late on delivery, which is scheduled for the end of March, but I'm going to give myself a little leeway and give the warning: It might be a month late. Hopefully not but I have a feeling...more on that in the blogs and newsletters to come.
For those who have yet to buy into any of the packages, in this season of sales and bargains, I can say with much bravado and confidence that buying the Flow Participant Package (with CD Mail Order) at $18.95 and the Flow Download Participant Package at $12.95 is a steal. (Here my salesman hat goes on.) You get not only the Alternate Routes 6 track album available immediately, but also have a birds eye view of the Flow Project as it comes alive, not to mention the finished product and a lot of extras. Two of the tracks from the Alternate Routes album have come up in "Best of 2007 track" lists from many DJs and critics which was really encouraging. And as many of you know, all proceeds of the Flow Participant Package sales go directly into the budget of making the Flow Project album, which will be entitled Nexus, come alive.

Of course, there are many other Packages available, so if you feel like, take time to look through them as each are unique and designed especially for those who are looking for something extra.
March/April Tour in Japan -- We are still in the middle of putting together the dates, but as of now I am confirmed for March 29 in Shibuya. More in the weeks to come so check back for more dates and details.
Outside Projects -- This month I am working on two outside projects. One is for Ota-san from the Lonesome Echo crew who is working on her solo album. I worked with Ota-san many years back when she did some engineering work for me, and some of the tunes I've heard from her solo project are really hip. The other is for the same crew who are putting together a compilation with various artists remaking Stevie Wonder songs. I chose "As" which, like all Stevie tunes, is a fantastic track and I'm already shaking in my boots wondering how I can possibly top the original. To which I say go totally left and make it COMPLETELY different. Or not. We'll see what I do with it.
Updates on releases and details in the newsletters to come.
And that's pretty much it for now! Hopefully this will be a great year for everyone. I'm certain that here in the U.S. we are going to have an exciting year with the Presidential nominations. Just that fact that we're finally going to have GW out is enough to make me happy.
