| 4/21/2018 11:21:38 AM - How's everyone? Just a quickie to let those who will be in Japan early November know about a couple of gigs. But first, I just want to mention my HUGE kudos to Al Gore for winning the Nobel Peace Prize this year for his efforts in raising awareness to the huge problem of Global Warming which, to this day, many governments refuse to acknowledge nor do anything about. As much as I'm enjoying these unseasonably warm days here in New York, it's still an uncomfortable reminder that this is a problem and we all need to do our part in trying to tackle it -- our lives literally are at stake.
Okay, enough on the high horse. This is coming from someone who owns an SUV, shame on us. (I really wanted a hybrid...)
TOUR DATES -- In a week's time I will be on my way to Japan to perform a duet with my mother for the Mastercard event on November 1 at Club Ikspiari near the Disneyland Resort in Maihama (near Tokyo). This is a closed event so unfortunately people can't purchase tickets, but for those of you who was able to meet the requirements for this special invitation, I look forward to seeing you.
As a result, I am able to do a couple of performances outside of Tokyo to help promote the just released CO album (a compilation by Kenichi Yanai from Soul Source Productions of my various collaborated worked on the more dance oriented tip). I will join Yanai-san who will be DJing at the following cities/venues:

As mentioned in my previous newsletter, I have also been invited to participate in the Jak Jazz Festival this year, as well as my husband Alex's quintet. My band will be performing November 24 and 25, times TBA. My band will also be performing in Bali at the Hard Rock Cafe on November 28 which I'm very excited about -- Bali is one of my favorite places on earth, and to finally have the opportunity to perform there is a dream come true. Many thanks to the Jak Jazz committee and David Karto of Demajors for putting these dates together.
Etc -- At this stage, I don't have much to report as I get ready for my upcoming performances. There are a bunch of new things uploaded (audio and videos) for my Flow participants, including the documentary style video I took while on our last Japan tour. I'm VERY excited about the announced release of Apple's new Leopard series due out on October 26th which I've been waiting for to order the new computer in helping me with my music productions. I've slowly been storing lyrical and musical concepts in my file of "Song Ideas" -- ideas keep popping out at me and I can see that I am ripe to write and explore what I hope to be new ground. I have no idea what musical directions my writing will take me -- I usually go into a project with no pre-conceived thoughts stylistically, just see what happens and wing it.
I am in the middle of talking to some people about a performance in New York as well as London which I hope will come to fruition.
Thanks and have a good one! Peace | Monday Michiru Newsletters |
