|Newsletter -- May 2007 (part 1)|
|6/26/2017 5:09:42 AM - Wow, what a beautiful time of year here in New York! Hope this newsletter finds everyone well and enjoying the Spring season. |
Some little updates:
"DON'T" CASAMENA REMIXES -- Phuture Sole has released 3 remixes by Casamena (different from the one on my Alternate Routes EP) as a 12" for you vinyl junkies, and it has been getting kick ass reviews! Check out:
NEW JAZZTRONIK COLLABORATION! -- You know I'm a fan of Jazztronik; I think Ryota is really talented as both a beat & track maker as well as a musician and composer. So when he asked me if I could sing and write lyrics for a new track, I leaped at the chance -- HELL YEAH! We just finished last weekend and it's a fun Latin Jazz House number entitled "Mista Swing." To be released June 27th from Pony Canyon in the album entitled "Grand Blue."
"MY EVER CHANGING MOODS" JULY JAPAN TOUR UPDATE -- There are new dates in Takamatsu, Okayama and Fukuoka added to the upcoming tour which I'm very excited about. Here's the overall performance schedule:
July 14 -- Blue Note NAGOYA (w/band)
July 15 -- Johnbull Hall OKAYAMA (duet with guitarist Naohiko Higuchi)
July 17 -- Shibuya Nuts TOKYO (trio with Naohiko Higuchi and rhythm man Masanori Amakura)
July 19 & 20 -- Club Ikspiari CHIBA (w/band)
July 22 -- Mikayla TAKAMATSU (duet with keyboardist Henry Hey)
July 23 & 24 -- Blue Note OSAKA (w/band)
July 27 -- With the Style Hotel FUKUOKA (duet with Henry Hey)
The band members are the same as the last time:
Henry Hey (keyboards)
Alex Sipiagin (trumpet & flugelhorn)
Masanori Amakura (drums)
In addition, there is a surprise appearance at a special event in Tokyo which I cannot disclose, but here's a hint: It's on the 21st, and it's with a group I did a feature with recently.
Also, my husband will be performing with his own unit at Body & Soul (Aoyama) on July 15th as well as Club Ikspiari on July 18th (with DJ Shuya Okino opening), so please go show support!
"MY EVER CHANGING MOODS" (COVER ALBUM) UPDATE -- I have been hard at work in the last month and half reworking the songs that I will be covering. We recorded three songs the end of March, and just recorded the remaining eight songs with the band last week, followed by several days overdubbing vocals and percussions, then going into mix. I am slated for mastering on June 4th, and the album will be released July 4. We also did the photo shoot a couple weeks ago -- much of it was done outdoors by the local beaches by where I live in Long Island, and we were blessed with an unusual heat wave with temperatures reaching into the 80s. My visual team of late, Takashi Matsuzaki (make-up/hair and photography) and Natsuko Hayashi (styling & jewelry-OKUSTAN), were on hand and trying out some new gear and tricks. The photos are now with Yoshihiro Sugawara (who designed many of my records in the past) and we are all waiting in anticipation of the results. The cover has already been decided and you can see it on my website, and I'll be uploading pictures from the photo session as well.
