NEXUS DC & JAPAN APRIL TOUR
7/2/2009 9:51:32 PM - Time to come out of hibernation!  And what a wonderful time to be able to perform in DC and throughout Japan than during the Cherry Blossom season!!  I'm very excited to debut live many of the new songs from the NEXUS album which is still in its infancy release-wise, as well as revisit some of my older songs.  Check my events page for exact dates, cities and venues -- hope to see you there!

Soulfeenix feat Monday Michiru "Brazilian Love Affair" out April 3, 2009!
I love the production Soulfeenix from Spain did on my "Your Eyes" track off the NEXUS album, and I pounced on his offer to sing this classic George Duke tune from the 70s.  Soulfeenix gives it a funk-house touch and it is KILLING!  Check it out!

"EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT" Yellowtail featuring Monday Michiru out Feb 19, 2009
This is one funky and fun little 12" (if I may say so myself!) out on Bagpak Records.  Yellowtail is credited for one of my remixes on "Alternate Routes" and we teamed up for this bopping track which got the remix treatments by Daisuke Tanabe, Kay Suzuki and U-Key.  I love that there is the Japanese connection albeit we're holding fort in various areas around the globe:  Yellowtail in Brooklyn, Daisuke Tanabe in Tokyo, Kay Suzuki in London, U-Key in Boston, and me amongst the vinyards in Long Island ;-)  Already getting a lot of buzz!

New PV from NEXUS!!
It's been over 8 years since I've had a promo video, but the Japanese label Knife's Edge has graciously allowed me to make one from the lead cut for the Japanese market, "Sands of Time."  After 2 days of filming in Manhattan, it reminds me a little at times of the opening to a 70s show I used to watch as a kid starring Mary Tyler Moore.  A laid back and fun video that I hope will make you smile :-)

"CO" -- A Compilation of My Various Collaborative Works Out Now
Yet another compilation album of my previous tracks, but this one has a little twist. Not only did Kenichi Yanai of Soul Source, who compiled this collection, choose tracks from my solo works produced or remixed by others, but he also expanded the choices to include tracks which featured me on other projects, including Jazztronik, Mondo Grosso and Soul Source (but of course!). AND -- the clincher -- a new remix by new Japanese duo who are making the underground waves worldwide, Studio Apartment, of YOU MAKE ME. Check it out!

MY EVERY CHANGING MOODS cover album
Released July 4, 2007 from Geneon Entertainment in Japan, this is an album solely of cover tunes by various artists and singers who have inspired me throughout my career and life. The tracks are all acoustic live recordings, something I haven't done since "Delicious Poison," and features some of New York's cream of the crop top jazz musicians: Antonio Sanchez (drums), Scott Colley (acoustic bass), Fima Ephron (electric bass), Jon Benitez (electric & acoustic bass), Daniel Sadownick (percussions), Henry Hey (keyboards), Adam Rogers (guitars), Alex Sipiagin (horn arrangement and trumpet/flugelhorn) and Donny McCaslin (saxes & flute). Tracks include Blondie's "Call Me" given bossa treatment, SOS Band's "Just Be Good To Me" on the Latin Soul tip, Joyce's "Aldeia de Ogum," an acoustic version of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors," the title track Style Council's "My Ever Changing Moods" ala Americana and more.

The New Remix Project "Alternate Routes"!!
I'm very excited to announce the release of the new remix project of material primarily from my album "Routes," aptly named "Alternate Routes." There's a whole story behind the people who have lent their hands and sounds to the remixes, which is shared in a series of blogs. There are 6 tracks in all: "Hung Up - PTH Sprung Up Mix," "The Right Time - Yellowtail Remix," "Don't - Casamena Backyard Mix," "You Don't Know" (Monday Michiru featuring Part Time Heroes), "Philosophy Road - PTH Hideout Mix," and "The Right Time - Jephte's Tet Kale Mix." Already several of the remixes are creating a buzz in the underground! Available either as a download or CD, you can get it here exclusively alongside the new to-be-made album from the project "Flow"!

Photos from SOBs NYC Live -- March 4, 2007
Check out the photos from SOB (March 4, 2007)! It had been nearly a year since I performed with my band in NYC so I was really happy for this opportunity yet again at the wonderful SOBs club in Soho. This was also my "Alternate Routes" release and the "Flow" project launch live, and many came to show support. Jephte Guillaume, also one of the contributors with his great remix in "Alternate Routes," set the mood for the audience before and after with his wonderful DJing. Thanks for all who came!

Monday Michiru Live DVD Released July 5, 2006!
Well, this is a first for me and I'm very excited. While on our "Routes" Spring Japan tour, we recorded for DVD our performance at the Liquid Room in Tokyo, which Geneon released on July 5th. I tried out a new unit with Genta on drums, Henry Hey on keyboards and computers, my husband of course on trumpet and flugelhorn, and myself. Where's the bass you ask? We mixed live performance with pre-recorded tracks, and with all my doubts and fears, it actually came off pretty darn cool!

At this stage, it is limited to a release only in Japan. Check it out!

A Message From Monday -- November, 2004
You know when you've come to a crossroad in your life where that turning point is going to lead you to a new adventure, your senses magnified, trying to catch what instinct and destiny is whispering to you, and that is where I'm at now. It's exciting, it's scary, it's thought-provoking, and it's life at its rawest.

Monday the Cook?! Check out Adventures Into Monday's Gastronomic World
Okay, when I ventured on this tangent, I thought the people at ArtistShare was REALLY going to think I was bonkers. And hey, maybe I am. But you know what? I've always felt that cooking and making music come from the same energy, and my cooking and music definitely are of the same strain: a little of this, a little of that, SORT OF seems to be one style, but has a little twist to it. Or, as I like to call it, nu fusion. Sounds cool in cooking, not as cool in music, but whatever. Fortunately the folks at ArtistShare thought it was a cute idea. Who knows, maybe a cookbook in the future?

So every month (or week? -- we'll see how I keep up), I'm going to come up with one of my recipes for y'all to check out. They're usually simple and passes the test (of my husband and me, that is). My husband will also give his personal rating (1-10) :-) Latest offering: Onion Tart. Check it out!

Monday Michiru Radio
It's been a while, but I finally got around to revamping this thing (and it still needs a lot of work, but at least it's a start!). I'm aiming to put up different trax of my large body of works over 10 years of album releases. This time we're focusing on many of my own solo pieces, but for the next time I might have a little fun and put up trax where I have been featured by various artists, so please check back! Peace
